Application
_________________________________
Preparation of the wall surface should be made by patching any holes or cracks with Mineral Life Int’l Wall Patching Compound and allow to dry.

Afterwards, apply Masonry Primer to the patches and allow to dry before applying a full coat to the entire wall surface.

When the entire surface is dry, the application of Modified Lime Plaster may begin using a plasterer’s trowel.
For a smooth substrate surface, apply the first coat as thin as possible, while covering the entire surface. If some spots of the wall remain visible, the second applied coat will cover the entire surface.
For textured wall surfaces, such as “knock down” or block surfaces, the first coat of Modified Lime Plaster, should fill the low points of the wall texture, while the second application may cover the high spots as well. For very coarse walls, a third applied coat may be required.

Decorative textures may be applied as desired, or a basic finish called “Hand of the Mason” retains the trowel marks along with a “hard troweled” smooth finish.

Each coat of a wall should be completed while maintaining a wet edge. The plaster surface will lighten in color as it dries.

When applying a second coat, the wall may be dampened first with a spray of clean water, and allowed to dry, before application. This will decrease “drag” on the trowel, and permit less resistance for applying successive coats.
