1.1 SUMMARY OF WORK
A. For color intrinsic finish coat on stucco plaster
1.2 SUBMITTAL
A. Submit the following items in time to prevent delay of the work and to allow adequate time for review and resubmittals, if needed; do not order materials or start work before receiving the written approval: Stucco Admix shall be from: Mineral Life Int’l, Inc. available through:
Mineral Life Int’l, Inc.
Samples shall be submitted for color matching to the same address.
2. Samples of all specified materials and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as appropriate.
3. Apply coating samples on masonry—preferably on the building. Do not apply samples to plywood or other non-masonry surfaces.
4. Written verification from the Contractor that all specified items will be used. Provide purchase orders, shipping tickets, receipts, etc. to prove that the specified materials were ordered and received.
1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE/TEST REQUIREMENTS
A. Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in commercial painting and finishing with three years documented experience and approved by the coating manufacturer.
B. Coating Samples: Prepare a sample of each type of repair listed below. Prepare, install, and finish each sample according to the specifications. All samples must be applied to masonry. Prepare samples in an area where they will be exposed to the same conditions as will be present on the building during curing. Allow samples to cure at least three days (or longer, if possible) before obtaining Owner’s approval for color match.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Materials are to be delivered, stored, and handled to protect them from damage, extreme temperature, and moisture in accordance with Manufacturer’s written instructions.
B. Deliver and store material in Manufacturer’s original, unopened containers with the production date shown on the container or packaging.
C. Comply with the Manufacturer’s written specifications and recommendations for mixing, application, and curing coatings.
1.5 PROTECTION/SITE CONDITIONS
A. Environmental Conditions: Comply with manufacturer’s recommendations of environmental conditions affecting product installation requirements.
1. Installation Ambient Air Temperature: Minimum of 40ºF (4ºC) and rising, and remain so for 48 hours thereafter. Maximum Ambient Air Temperature of 120°F (49°C). Protect stucco from uneven and excessive evaporation during hot, dry weather
2. Do not use frozen materials in cement stucco.
3. Do not apply cement stucco to frozen surfaces or surfaces containing frost or ice.
4. Inclement Weather: Do not apply basecoat during inclement weather, unless appropriate protection is employed.
5. Wall and Substrate Temperatures: Avoid, when possible, installation of the basecoat and the finish coats over substrates that are over 120°F (49°C).
B. Protection:
1. Protect adjacent finished surfaces prior to stuccoing.
2. Maintain protection in place until completion of work.
3. Protect finished work when stopping for the day or when completing an area.
Part 2 – PRODUCTS
2.1 COATING MANUFACTURER

Substitutions: If proposed equal is submitted, lab test to establish equivalent performance levels. Use an independent testing laboratory, as determined
by the Specifier, and paid for by the submitting party.
Part 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION OVER MASONRY SUBSTRATES: DIRECT BOND APPLICATION
A. Conform to preparation requirements of ASTM C926.
B. Verify that masonry and concrete surfaces to receive stucco finish properly prepared to provide for adequate bond.
C. Apply a uniform coating of the Stucco Admix (straight from bucket) in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions.
3.2 Mixing
1. Replace the quantity of water required in your stucco finish mix with Mineral Life Int’l Stucco Admix.
2. For a one bag mix, about 5 gallons of Stucco Admix is required. The amount of Admix will vary according to the stucco mix design, as well as the existing
moisture content of the sand in the stucco.
3. Use only enough admixture in stucco finish coat mix to make it workable.
4. Add more admixture or dry stucco mix to adjust for desired consistency, if necessary, in order to arrive at optimum consistency.
5. Add the measured stucco admix to plaster mixer, followed by the stucco mix.
6. If mixing sand and masonry cement, add the sand first followed by the cement.
7. Mix until smooth and lump free. Let stand for eight minutes, then re-mix for two minutes and apply.
3.3 Application
1. Apply the stucco finish with a plasterer’s trowel in a tight, thin coat. Return over the fresh surface to obtain a minimum of 1/16th inch (1.5mm or a maximum of 1/8th inch (3 mm ) thickness.
2. Feather edge finish between scaffold levels or if breaking within a wall surface, while continuing without creating excessive overlap.
3.4 Cleanup
1. Remove excess finish and protective materials from adjacent surfaces.
2. Remove all excess materials from the project site.
